How far are the expectations of local and international students on English BA programs fulfilled during their studies at Corvinus University of Budapest?

There is much research about international students in higher education, since their number is rapidly increasing, even though during the Covid-19 pandemic it decreased by a lot. This paper sought to give an insight into what international and local students expected from Corvinus University of Budapest, and how they experienced their life there. To get the relevant data, semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten participants: five international and five domestic bachelor students who study at any English major at Corvinus. The results show how the experiences often did not live up to the initial expectations of the students, although some of them admitted to having high expectations. The participants felt mostly positive about their studies here, since they get a high quality of education and have more opportunities here. They had also encountered negative things, such as the bad information flow or the English level of some professors. This paper aligns with studies done on this topic before and contributes to the research with student experiences in higher education.
