Abstract
The thesis studies why sustainability and sustainable development is relevant in a food processor company’s life. It highlights, that sustainability can be an image-maker process for the company. It studies what the company’s customers’ expect from it and it gives recommendations to the firm for future development. The study assumes, that the company’s customers prefer sustainable produced food, although they do not know about the company’s sustainable development projects. The company acts in the secondary sector of the economy. Its customers are healthcare centers, detentions, hospitals, remote sites and the airline industry. The products are specified for them: they are fresh meals in frozen condition. The study shows, that sustainability is important both theoretically and practically. The company’s customers do take care about it, because they think it is an important issue. The study’s target groups are the decision makers in Marfo B.V. and similar companies.
