Abstract

The Kashmir Question is one of the most disputed phenomena that has ever occurred in international politics. Having examined the roots, the main actors of the conflict and the escalations of the recent years in the Indo-Pakistani relations. I have come to the conclusion that this dispute poses a significant threat to world peace. Therefore, it is necessary to start peace negotiations as soon as possible, which can now offer not only a temporary but also a permanent solution to the issue. However, mutual détente and a change of policy agenda between India and Pakistan are not enough to resolve the dispute. What is needed is for the international community to realise the importance of the problem. Great states and international organisations must act as mediators between India and Pakistan to reach a permanent solution.
