Absztrakt (kivonat)

The purpose my thesis is to clarify Orban’s policy on the issue of securitization in Hungary and see how this influenced young Hungarian University students’ opinion on migration policy, with taking a look at different channels of securitization. The aim of this study is to give a general overview on the ‘Orbanization’ of securitization and its effects on the Hungarian population. In the literature review I summarized the key concepts linked to migration and securitization in the sociological field with a special reference of Orban. In the methodology I used mixed methods, first conducting an online survey to see general opinions about migration, then organized four interviews to probe whether they agree with the general view and to see if they have any personal experiences. The results have shown that Hungarian’s attitudes towards Refugees can usually be divided into two groups. The ones who do support Orban and his actions that he took to stop Refugees and the others who think that a more humanitarian and affiliated mentality would be the right way to face this problem. The results also indicated that Hungarian society is getting more and more exclusionary towards ‘outsiders’ and Orban’s policy fuels frustration, anxiety and a mood that supports the rejection of migrants.
