Absztrakt (kivonat)

Communication is a key element of coaching, Culver (1991) even stated that communication is the most important element of coaching. These days when sports become so competitive, sharp and result focused, every way how performance can be improved. Coach-Athlete relationships become essential. The general question of this thesis was whether the coach s communication style and verbal aggressiveness affects the athletes communication as well or even their acts on ice or out of their sports life. the present study used several questionnaires the coach-athlete relationship with The Coach Athlete Relationship Questionnaire (CART-Q), the communication style of the coach and the athlete as well with The Communicator Style Measures - short form, the coach s perceived verbal aggressiveness with Verbal Aggressiveness Scale, communication satisfaction with the Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire and the athlete s ice hockey related aggression with The Sport Aggression Questionnaire. Participants were 61 Hungarian ice hockey players (13 women, 46 men). We used Pearson Correlations to find out about potential connections between coach-athlete s communication styles. Our results are discussed in terms of coach-athlete communication style matching. The potential connection between the coach's perceived verbal aggressiveness and the nature of the relationship with the athlete.
