Abstract
The research examines the issue of Jihadism, its ideological and strategic tenets, as well as its future implications in the view of the current conflict between al-Qa’ida and Islamic State. Within the framework of this research, the main attention is focused on the analysis of the ideological and strategic concepts that make up the contemporary Salafi-Jihadism (1), analysis of the fitnah (discord) between the two main currents of modern Jihadism – al-Qa’ida and Islamic State (2), and observation of the future of the Salafi-Jihadism through the lens of the new ‘theaters of jihad’ (3). The research presents weighted and consolidated conclusions, arguing that Salafi-Jihadism is a critically understudied phenomenon, which can be crucial in assessing the failures of international community in countering jihadi organizations and radical Islamism ideology in general.
