Abstract

Being a disruptive innovation, crowdfunding intrigued the interest of many as a new alternative way of financing. The objective of my research was to analyse both the demand and supply side of the crowdfunding ecosystem. According to the research objective, this paper has two applied methodologies: a survey focusing on the public awareness of crowdfunding in Hungary from the perspective of potential investors; and a database analysis of 259.114 Kickstarter campaigns. As a result of the research I identified success factors and defined the limitations and the future directions of this work.
